I'd call it more like greasy fast food that you just can't order easily or reliably take out like fast food. The burgers were a little better on round 2, not as scorched but still a little bit of a sloppy mess and just OK compared to others around town. For consolation, they did throw a couple cookies that weren't anything special in a ziploc sandwich baggy (still don't know what flavor the dry murky-rainbow one was supposed to be that we ending up tossing after the first bite). thinking they could have been more thoughtful and at least given us some fresh fries?!?! We didn't ask for or expect a discount for all our hassle, and they certainly didn't offer us one. Upon finally getting back home, we realized the mushy crinkle fries were now over an hour old and cold and soggy. After checking the order before leaving - it still wasn't right and had to be fixed again. After physically showing the order receipt, then opening and showing the containers to point out each burger was entirely wrong, they finally agreed to get the right food. So after taking the food all the way back to get the right order - the staff member was somewhat condescending and argumentative in determining what was wrong. And they didn't give the wife the sauce she'd asked for on the side to prevent the child-like mess the burgers were last time. We did the whole takeout thing again, got home, and realized BOTH of our burger orders were entirely wrong. Unfortunately, the second attempt (or really our 3rd) was worse. We figured we must have just hit them on a bad day and we'd try again some other time to be sure we gave a fair chance to the new local place before writing them off. The fries weren't crispy either like I prefer - rather mushy crinkle cuts just like mom used to make after pulling them out of the freezer. it was something around $20 each for a burger and fries. Maybe the first time ever I didn't finish a burger. The bath of spicy hot ketchup covering mine overpowered everything else, and when combined with the very strong burnt flavor and grease, the whole sandwich actually made me sick to my stomach. Both burgers were just plain sloppy, and not sloppy in a good way. almost like burnt cheese, except it was really thin burnt meat. way overcooked to the point of being outright burnt and the edges were over-crusty. We tried the Heff and Piggly Wiggly no mayo. Now I'm a huge fan of smashburgers, but unfortunately the food just wasn't good. Eventually someone referred a different order app. "Contact us" on the webpage means don't contact us, at least not with your order!) Even tried finding the phone number on Facebook and found others had the same issue with no phone number and online order issues. We then went to call-in the order - but they didn't have a phone number posted anywhere (and just checked - they still don't. we figured we'd order early on a weeknight and try take out to avoid any busy crowds or food shortages. Later we read somewhere they were too busy and ran out of food. The first time driving over, they were closed well earlier than the stated hours.
